Guidance & Counseling Department
In St. Brigid's Girls' High School Guidance and Counseling Department is one of the major pillars in realization of the school's Vision and Mission. With the withdrawal of subsequent outlaws of corporal punishment in learning institutions, this department in collaboration with other departments and administration has the mandate of ensuring that the system does not chum out academic robots with no character but ensure that our graduates are all round and of noble character. This school prides in having produced ladies who not only excel in academics but also fit perfectly in the ever dynamic society.
To be able to realize our objectives we have the following strengths;
A.) A competent and vibrant team of counselors.
• HOD • Mrs. Sore Grace - School Parenting Programmes
* Mrs. Gitau Teresia Wednesday Assembly Programmes
* Mrs. Emily Limatete - Secretary
* Mr. Simiyu Gabriel Career Guidance
* Mr. Marango Rev Father-School Chaplain (Spiritual Guidance)
B.) Tailor made programmes to meet the needs of the students.
* Weekly group counseling sessions on every Thursday.
* Wednesday assembly programs that involve all teachers being given an opportunity to address students on given specific topics.
* School parenting programme that engages individual teachers with a small number of students that they have to mentor as a family.
* Motivational talks from extenal speakers on various issues pertaining to academics and social life.
* Individual counseling sessions for specific students that goes on throughout.
• Strong chaplaincy programmes by the sponsor church Catholic Diocese of Kitale
* Strong and vibrant careers guidance programmes headed by the HOD that ensures that our students make informed choices on careers.
In conclusion, we thank our Chief Principal Mrs Lukorito (HSC) for having relentlessly given her full support to the department, materially and financially; she goes out of her way to give regular talks to role of our Deputy Principals and the entire staff in individual classes. We also acknowledge the collective nurturing students.
